ABOUT ME

Karolína Jansová (1992) is a theatre and film set designer, costume designer, mask designer, her work also extends to installations and fine art. She graduated in Alternative and Puppet Theatre Scenography at the DAMU, Scenography at the JAMU, Educational Drama for the Deaf also at the JAMU and the Master’s programme Expanded Theatre at the University of the Arts in Bern, Switzerland. She is currently taking a healthy break from her studies at UMPRUM. Jansová is interested in the transformation and reuse of materials and their forms of recycling, but also in material as an aesthetic base, working very often with textiles and sewn work. She also appears as an assistant and designer in film productions or various projects with children and disabled groups. Karolína uses materials and senses, classic crafts prevail over digital ones. Her work explores themes of mental disorders, thinking, traditions, nature and their transformation into an object or costume. Her long-term project deals with the phenomenon of overthinking – Overthinking Sisters, which has appeared in both performative and gallery settings. As a freelance artist she collaborates with film architects, costume designers, children’s theatre such as Damůza, KUK, Mikro Teatro and foreign productions mainly in Germany and Switzerland. Jansová also appears in group projects, exhibitions and performances.
